Amnesty Kenya and Amnesty Germany have come together to facilitate an informed discussion among civil society activists on the rights of lesbian, bisexual, gay, transgender, intersex, and queer (LGBTIQ+) refugees. The online event will focus on questions of the legal status, and the lived realities of LGBTIQ+ refugees in Germany and Kenya and the wider East African region.
Structured around a moderator and three panellists, the conversation will provide insights into the lives of LGBTQI+ refugees. Panellists include Njeri Gateru, Victor Mukasa and Philipp Braun. The panellists will also speak about solidarity actions: what can Amnesty International and other advocacy organizations do nationally and transnationally to advance the rights of LGBTQI+ refugees. Participants will get the opportunity to engage with the speakers and each other.
